Webinar Description:
This webinar will begin with the basics of vibration transmitter selection, such as acceleration vs. velocity, output calculation types, and full-scale range. Depending on the application, ideal measurements may be overall vibration, frequency banding, pre-processing or dual output of dynamic data. In some cases, a field-configurable transmitter is preferrable to a factory-configured transmitter. The industrial environment may necessitate rugged sensors or hazardous area approvals.

Other key considerations when selecting a vibration transmitter are cost and compatibility, both with existing infrastructure and the expanding enterprise data architecture. Standard 4-20 mA loop output can be used for trending and alarming via common process monitoring systems. Edge processing devices, digital data, and Modbus output enable organizations to move towards enterprise data models.

Peter Eitnier is a Senior Applications Engineer at Wilcoxon Sensing Technologies in Frederick, Maryland. He is a certified ISO CAT II vibration analyst and Ultrasound Operator Level 1. Peter has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. Since joining Wilcoxon in 2012, he has specialized in providing technical expertise to customers in a variety of applications.
